Detailed Descriptions

T-Ball
T-ball is open to all League Age 4 & 5 players. Further, any new to baseball 6-year-old players are also welcome to start in T-Ball. Experienced 6 year-old should refer to Farm below as an option. In T-Ball, players largely leverage a batting tee for hitting and may introduce light coach-toss as the season advances.  The primary goals of T-ball are to have fun, to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball, and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.

- No previous skills or experience are required.

- The T-Ball VP forms teams with the purpose of ensuring an enjoyable experience for players, parents, and coaches.  The VP will consider criteria such as coach or teammate requests and the school attended by the player, although we cannot guarantee we will be able to honor all requests.

- T-Ball games last a maximum of 3 innings or about 60 minutes.  Each inning, every player bats (either off a batting tee or a coach's pitching), using a semi-cushioned T-ball, and plays in the field.  Players rotate positions in the infield/outfield.  No scores are kept.

- Teams will typically have one weekday practice and one weekend game each week.  The season, which begins in early March, wraps up at the end of May, includes approximately 10 games.  (Schedules are subject to change rapidly due to rain out conditions).

Division Price: $150 before December 1st($200 from Dec 1)

Farm
Starting in 2024, we have expanded our divisions to introduce Farm to 6 year old players in addition to 7 year old players that played T-Ball in the previous season. Many of the players in Farm will then be 6 and 7 years old players.  In Farm, coaches reinforce the basic skills of batting, throwing, catching, and base running, in a game environment.  Players improve their understanding of how to play the game of baseball.  They learn more about base running, defensive situations, and rules-of-play.

- Players who register for Farm have learned basic skills (batting stance and grip, throwing motion, fielding stance) and should be familiar with the rules-of-play.  Players should be able to make semi-accurate throws and play catch with each other.

- The Farm VP works with Farm coaches and teams with the purpose of ensuring an enjoyable experience for players. The team formation process will consider the required Player Evaluations for 7 year old players , as well as information such as players' schools and coach or teammate requests when forming teams.  We cannot guarantee we will be able to honor all requests.

- Farm games last a maximum of six innings or about 90 minutes.  Farm players get 6 pitches from a coach, with the pitching distance moderated over the season. Strike outs and put-outs are also introduced during the season. Players who haven't hit the ball after their sixth pitch are considered "out." Players who are "put-out" in the field return to the dugout.

- Players rotate through infield and outfield positions, although coaches may consider safety in assigning positions.  Every player should play a minimum of 2 innings on the infield. Ten defensive players take the field during each half-inning.  Players share equal playing time and will sit out innings. The Catcher position will be introduced later in the season. Scorekeeping is introduced during the season.

- Teams will typically have one practice, one weekday game, and one weekend game each week during the season which begins in early March and ends in late-May or early June. (Schedules are subject to change rapidly due to rain out conditions) ALL games are expected to be
played at River Glen Park.

Division Price: $375 before December 1st ($425 from Dec 1)

Single A
In addition to the expansion of Farm, we have added the “Single A” division for 7 year old players that played Farm last year and 8 year old players. In Single A, coaches will further advance fundamental skills in a slightly more competitive environment. The focus areas will include: batting consistency, the “Big 3” of catching, base running, development of the Catcher position and more defensive relays and teaching of situational awareness.

- Players who register for Single A have shown proficiency with basic skills (batting stance and grip, throwing motion, fielding stance) and are prepared to make more in game decisions considering the rules-of-play.  Players should be able to evidence the “Big 3” of catching (receiving, blocking and throwing) and be able to make accurate throws and catches from a distance. Over the season, they should also be able to evidence a consistent batting stance, awareness of backing up positions, tracking fly balls and knowing when to advance on the basepaths.

- This season the Farm VP and T-Ball VP will work together to roll-out Single A. They will work with coaches with the purpose of ensuring an experience that allows solid competition with enjoyment and strong sportsmanship.  The VP’s and coaches will use information from the required for 7 and 8 year old player evaluation process as the primary tool to form teams, however players' schools and team requests will be considered as well. We cannot guarantee we will be able to honor all requests.

- Single A games last a maximum of six innings and may range between 90-105 minutes.  Single A players get 5 pitches primarily from a pitching machine. Strike outs and put-outs are enforced all season.

- Catchers will be positioned behind home plate, catch "live" pitches and will need to relay balls back to the pitcher position. The Catcher position will also expect to make plays at home plate.

- Teams will typically have one practice, one weekday game, and one weekend game each week during the season which begins in early March and ends in late-May or early June. (Schedules are subject to change rapidly due to rain out conditions) ALL games are expected to be played at the River Glen Park Farm Field, however the league may introduce some interlock with other leagues during the season. Scores are kept all season and teams will participate in an end-of-year tournament at the conclusion of the regular season.

Division Price: $375 before December 1st ($425 from Dec 1)

Minors (AA & AAA)

AA is a combination of "kid pitch" and "coach pitch." Since AA teams will be drafted by coaches, all kids must attend the Player Evaluation Sessions. In AA, coaches emphasize the advancement of players’ baseball skills. Players are taught to apply those skills and make their own decisions in live game situations.  AA introduces live pitching from the players.  AA is meant to prepare players for their introduction to competitive baseball in AAA.

- Players entering AA should be able to demonstrate the following skills:  the ability to acknowledge pitches and hit a pitched baseball at varying speeds/location, the ability to catch and throw a ball on a flat line, and knowledge of all field positions and base locations.  Players should not be afraid to catch a baseball or to have a ball pitched at them.  Most players participate in AA for one year prior to entering AAA.

- Managers will draft AA teams using information from the Player Evaluation Session and the evaluations from prior years.

- Youth umpires are used in AA games.  Official game scores are kept, and team standings tracked. Each team needs to have an official score keeper. Teams participate in a end-of-year tournament at the conclusion of the regular season.

- Teams will typically have one practice, one weekday game, and one weekend game each week during the season which begins in March and ends in early-June. (Game times are subject to change due to rain out conditions).

- Players are introduced to more competitive tournament level play in AAA.  Coaches continue to emphasize the development and use of good baseball mechanics for throwing, catching, fielding, and batting.  Players also develop an increased understanding of how to play in different game situations.  AAA provides a “real” Little League baseball experience and prepares players for the higher level of competitive play in Majors.  Players in AAA will typically be 10 or 11-years-old, with some 9 year olds participating based on the Player Evaluation.  Since AAA teams will be drafted by coaches, all kids must attend the Player Evaluation Sessions. Little League rules mandate that 12-year-olds may only play in AAA with specific District approval.

- Players entering AAA should have strong command of the basic skills of baseball (fielding, catching, throwing, batting and base running).  Players should also understand appropriate actions in game situations, such as when and where to make put-outs, how to steal bases, how to tag-up on fly balls, and how to execute cut-offs without heavy in-game coach instruction.

- Teams are drafted (selected) by the AAA coaches using information from Player Evaluation Sessions and evaluations from prior year coaches.

- Games last a maximum of six innings or around 2 hours.

- AAA utilizes youth and adult umpires.  Official game scores are kept and standings are tracked.  Teams participate in an end-of-year tournament at the conclusion of the regular season.

- Teams typically have two games and one practice each week during the season which begins in early to mid-February and ends in early-June. (Schedules are subject to change rapidly due to rain out conditions).

Division Price: $375 before December 1st ($425 from Dec 1)

Majors
At the Majors level, Managers increase the instructional focus on baseball strategies and tactics while continuing to reinforce the fundamental skills.  Majors is the most competitive level of baseball in LGLL and teams are drafted by Managers using information from Player Evaluation Sessions.  Most players in Majors will be 12 and 11-years-old. 10-year-olds who attend the Player Evaluation Session and evaluate high enough, may also be drafted onto a Majors team. Little League rules mandate that 12-year-olds play in Majors unless they receive specific District approval to play in AAA.

- Players entering Majors have demonstrated strong command of the basic skills of baseball (fielding, catching, throwing, batting and base running). They also understand appropriate actions in game situations, such as when and where to make put-outs, how to steal bases, how to tag-up on fly balls, and how to execute cut-offs.

- Players compete for positions and playing time, although every child in Majors plays a minimum number of defensive innings and gets one at-bat each game.

- Games last a maximum of 6 innings or about 2 hours.

- Experienced adult umpires officiate at Majors games.  In each game, the home team must supply an official scorekeeper.  Season standings are tracked, and regular-season champions are recognized.  Majors teams participate in an end-of-year tournament at the conclusion of the regular season.

- Teams begin practicing several times per week in late January/early February.  During the season, which lasts from early March through early-June, teams may continue to practice two or more times per week and will play two games each week. (Schedules are subject to change rapidly due to rain out conditions). Games are played at River Glen Park and occasionally at neighboring Little Leagues.

Division Price: $375 before December 1st ($425 from Dec 1)

Juniors
The Little League experience doesn’t stop after Majors! All league age 13 and 14-year-olds are invited to register for our Juniors division. Players have the ability to lead off, steal as the pitcher breaks, and play games on bigger fields (90-foot bases and a pitching distance of 60 ft 6 inches). This is an excellent opportunity to get ready for baseball at the next level and still play with friends and old teammates in the local community. Don’t miss out!

Division Price: $375 before December 1st ($425 from Dec 1)

We are hopeful that all this information helps ease the registration process and leaves you excited for the upcoming season!

Thanks for being a part of our family and our community. Get ready to Play Ball!
