Treasurer - Roles & Responsibilities

The Treasurer is a voting member of the Lincoln Glen Little League and is expected to attend a majority of the board meetings.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Treasurer shall:

1. Perform such duties as are herein set forth and such other duties as are customarily incident to the Office of Treasurer or may be assigned by the Board of Directors.

2. Receive all monies and securities, and deposit same in a depository approved by the Board of Directors.

3. Keep records for the receipt and disbursement of all monies and securities of the Local League and approve all payments from allotted funds and draw checks therefore in agreement with policies established in advance of such actions by the Board of Directors.

Local Rules:

a. All disbursements >$5,000 by check must have dual signatures.

b. For purchases greater than $5,000 the Treasurer must obtain BOD approval before ANY League official can commit to the purchase.

c. Monthly bank account reconciliations should be reviewed by a Board member without current League financial responsibilities, but with an appropriate financial/accounting background.

4. Prepare an annual budget, under the direction of the President, for submission to the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting.

5. Prepare an annual financial report, under the direction of the President, for submission to the Membership and Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting, and to Little League International.

6. Coordinate the preparation and filing of all necessary Tax Returns and Non-Profit disclosures, prior to the required date, usually February 15 of the year following the end of the League’s fiscal year.

Time Commitment:

1. 10 monthly board meetings of approximately 2 hours per meeting.

2. Prepare weekly snack shack deposits, approximately 2 hours per week during the little league season.

3. Prepare monthly financial records and bank reconciliations, approximately 6 hours per month.

4. Prepare disbursements as needed, approximately 2 hours per month during the little league season.

Other Comments:

1. The Treasurer should have adequate financial and/or accounting background necessary to complete the required tasks and roles.

2. In addition to volunteer application process, the Treasurer and all volunteers that have access to League assets, should undergo a background financial check to include, but not limited to an annual credit check.
