Umpire In Chief (UIC) - Roles & Responsibilities

The UIC (Umpire in Chief) is a voting member of the Lincoln Glen Little League and is expected to attend a majority of the board meetings.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The UIC shall:

1. Be in charge of scheduling umpires for the Majors, Minors (AAA, AA & Farm) and post season tournament play.

2. Coordinate training umpires for Majors and Minors Divisions.

3. Coordinate umpire equipment needed for distribution to umpires.

4. Ensure student umpires get compensated for major and minors field work.

5. Handle complaints regarding umpires.

6. Handle umpire complaints against managers, coaches and parents.

7. Answer questions from managers/coaches or parents that may come up due to a call in a game, subsequent to the end of the game. The UIC will not intervene in a game.

8. Attend board meetings.

Time Commitment:

1. 10 monthly board meetings of approximately 2 hours per meeting

2. Training umpires approximately 2 hour trainings and 4 hours prep/per training. 4 to 5 trainings preseason.

3. Two day sectional umpire training.

4. On field evaluation of umpires during the season. Approximately 1-2 hours per week.

5. Scheduling umpires. Approximately 4-8 hours per week during the season.

6. Compensating Student umpires: 1 hour per week.

7. Answering rules questions from managers/coaches/parents: Average 1 hour per week.
