1)      Call to order – The Meeting was called to order by President J. Hutchings

a)      We are $9000 ahead of last years registration fees

b)      Cost for online registration projected to be $4000 came in at only $2500

c)      Looking at potentially getting a new cage and awnings

5)      Silent Auction update – by Rick Munson

 

a)      We’ve raised approximately $8300 and we need to pay out approximately $800 to auction person.

b)      Thank you to Rick for all his work on this event

 

6)      VP updates

 

a)      Juniors – Ben Holback

i)   One issue at Saratoga and the district is looking into it.

 

b)      Majors – Chris Whitney, Mike Riley, Rob Stewart, Joe Soltis,

i)   We cannot use batting cages pre-game

i)        No issues to report

 

d)     Farm –Steve Darragh- had to leave early

i)        End of season championship tournament

ii)      One manager stepped down as manager and we have filled the spot with volunteers

iii)    Jon Burk & Per Johanson nominated to manage and coach Ralph Walkers team.  Motion made by Steve, John seconded and it was approved

 

e)      T-ball – Mike Crisafulli

i)   No issues to report

 

7)      Award presentation day

 

a)      Peter Haight and Mike Mazzoni were Houseweart Volunteer of the Year winners

8)      Equipment

a)      VP’s are responsible for issuing and collecting equipment for their division

i)        Chris and Laurie needed to track down a lot of equipment from last year

ii)      Last day of year we should get back the equipment prior to issuing trophies

b)      Need 2 new hats in forest green for new coaches, Chris will order

c)      Equipment job is too big for one guy.  VP’s need to help

9)      Safety

a)      Ice packs & Injury reports

i)        Need injury reports filled out for ice going out

ii)      We are out of ice packs and need more

b)      First aid kits

i)   Replacement ice bags are issued for first aid kits when report is filed

c)      Bat safety

i)   No more than one player with a bat in his hand for Majors and below

d)     Must be an adult in the dugout at all times

e)      No adults warming up kids during games

f)       Coaches and/or parents cannot be in bullpen if there is no enclosure, a kid with a helmet and glove to be on bullpen guard

g)      No donuts on bats for warm-ups

7)      District Meeting held on February 4, 2008

 

a)      John Hutchings attended meeting

 

b)      Reported that LGLL has increased by 50 players  and most other leagues reported small gains as well.

a)      Chris Whitney reports that T-ball and Farm equipment is okay, Minors need three more sets of gear and Majors need four more sets

b)      Uniforms Committee report

i)        Minors have 10 sets of uniforms

ii)       Farm has 10 sets (2 sets have only 11 uniforms)

iii)     Pete and Laurie to negotiate with Rob at Valley Images by Opening Day  to purchase new Majors uniforms

1.      cost currently is $45-$50 per jersey and $10 per hat

iv)     vote held on MLB jerseys versus Lincoln Glen jerseys

a)      John explained the updates needed for the LGLL constitution.  Constitution has not been updated in several years

b)      Template downloaded from Little League.  Changes and additions will be made and submitted to LL

c)      Becky reviewed the changes, the board discussed and agreed.  Becky made motion to approve changes, Rick Munson seconded and it was approved

a.       Local rule to affirm Little League International Policy regarding players who opt out of Little League Majors play also forfeit All Star and Tournament Team eligibility

                                                              i.      Regarding All Stars – a player would need a waiver from Little League to play in All Stars if they opted out of Majors and the board deemed they should be in Majors.

                                                            ii.      If a player opts out the player agent will inform the parent if it becomes an issue

                                                          iii.      A player who opts out would not be eligible to be pulled up

                                                          iv.      T.O.C. teams would not be included

Approval of Minutes from October 9, 2007 meeting.  Objection by Kevin Milligan to item 8a. from previous minutes to withdraw his position for V.P.  John Hutchings explained Kevin and John’s phone conversation.  Kevin then explained his side and expressed his displeasure in not having it go to a vote.  Motion to approve Munson.  Second by Whitney as amended.
  3. Sirious Baseball presentation – by Anthony Siri
    1. Sirious can run coaching clinics
    2. Run organized practices – practice plans, setting goals
    3. Skills camps – hitting, fielding, pitching etc.
    4. Consistency within league as it relates to coaching, skills etc.
    5. All instructors provided by Sirious – coaches and managers shadow
    6. Smaller groups – 30 or so kids, 7:1 coaching ratio.

    1. J. Hutchings proposed Majors TOC @ LGLL
    2. Safety plans due January 7th 2008
    3. We are reviewing our by-laws and constitution by committee by January 7th 2008
    4. All Stars – players on teams that waivers are out of date.  Sign ups must verify that players are in the district.
    5. Austin Hatfield’s waiver is still in effect
    6. Parent conduct the worst ever seen in Little League
    7. violations / forfeits for pitch count and number of innings played
    8. Umpires should be 100% volunteer – more kids, parents or coaches to umpire for 1A thru 3A according to Ben Holback. Current paid umpires are beginning to lose interest.
    9. Mike Riley asked about helping with umpire clinics
    10. V.P.’s and managers to keep parents under control
    11. 2 instructional clinics in February (Districts 39 & 12)
    12. We will still hire umpires first for Majors volunteers second.
    13. Give umpires shirt and hat to give them more credibility and confidence.
  8. Rule changes
    1. Minors – 5 run per inning cap
    2. Majors – 12’s must play Majors

1.      parent cannot “opt” for Minors

  1. Call to Order  - The Meeting was called to order by President J. Hutchings
  2. Approval of Minutes from Sept. 11, 2007 Meeting. Motion To approve by R. Munson, Second by P. Haight – Approved by those present.
  3. Sirious Baseball Presentation – deferred due to scheduling conflict with A. Siri
  4. Treasurer’s report / 2008 Budget Prep – Deferred to November Meeting by P. Onorato
  5. On-Line Registration Report by Info Officer A. Holder
    1. Committee approved vendor: e7 Sports
    2. Committee needs to meet to review and enter contract plus finalize data to be captured
    3. Goal is 100% on-line Registration to begin the first week of November.
    4. Need address and Birth Cert verification for all new league members
  6. VP’s reports:
    1. R. Munson requested 2 sets of break away bases for Junior/Senior Program.
    2. LL requires break away’s for “all levels” – Hutchings will clarify with LL regarding need for breakaways at “T-Ball and Single A” levels where local rules prohibit sliding.
    3. Potential that we may have to purchase 4 sets of breakaways plus reimburse Willow Glen for the set we borrowed for the Section 5 tourney.
    4. Fields – Rob MacDonald requested (via email)  that LGLL review the need for the various fields we use during the season.   The consensus of those present was that we should continue to renew permits for all of the fields we held permits for last year. Field time/space is dwindling due to competing interests for use.  The board believes that if we do not renew all permits then we risk losing the ability to secure a permit for a field we might need in the future.
    5. Mike Riley will contact Councilman Oliverio and voice LGLL concerns regarding River Glen Park. (maintenance, LGLL and City investment in fields that is not being protected). Bruening, Castignani, Hutchings would also take part in possible meetings with PRNS (Parks Recreation and Neighborhood Services)
  7. Local Rules and Constitution Review.
    1. A volunteer committee consisting of A. Holder, L. Rothenberg, B, Jones, P. Haight, R Munson was formed to review the existing Local Rules and Constitution  documents and report back to the board on changes necessary to make them current. The goal is to complete this work by the start of the 2008 regular season.
  8. Open Board Positions:
    1. K. Milligan withdrew his interest in VP board Position.
    2. J. Crocker did not respond to invitations to return to his VP Position and his name was withdrawn from consideration.
    3. Chris Whitney expressed interest in the Open VP position

                                                               i.      J. Castignani  nominated Whitney – Second by Haight, Whitney was approved by those present.

    1. Field and equipment duties will be shared by the individual VPs of T-Ball, A, AA, AAA, & Majors. One of the VP’s  (TBD) will be designated as the person authorized to place orders with vendors.
  1. 2008 Rule Changes regarding pitch count.  All present were notified of the recent changes to the Little League Pitch count rules. The sense of the board is that LGLL Local Rules regarding “pitching” should not be modified at this time.
